History:
The fourth-generation Integra - known as the Acura RSX in North America - was unveiled to the public in April 2001 at

the New York Auto Show. It was this car that was used as a homologation model for the touring car version.

The K20A, a 2.0-liter dohc inline-4 with i-VTEC(the same one used in the Civic) underwent a great deal of tuning to make it ready to race. With its increased compression ratio and higher redline, it now produces around 296 HP and conforms to N1 racing regulations. Of note, the previous N1 - spec Integra Type-R had already achieved a great deal of success in Japanese endurance races including the Super Taikyu series, having finished first and second in class at the Tokachi 24-hour event in 2001. And speaking of the N1-spec version, Gran turismo beat reality to the punch once again: In-game development of an N1-spec car began right after the New York Auto Show, but the real N1-spec version hadn't even been announced yet. The real world had to hustle to play catch-up to the Gran Turismo team's fantasy car!

Except for the instrument panel, the interior was completely gutted to save weight and bucket seats and a roll cage were added. In total, the Integra Type - R tipped the scales at just about 1 ton.
